Championing Malaysia’s Digital Future

From influencing policy to growing the local tech ecosystem, PIKOM serves as a key driver of innovation, collaboration, and capability-building in the country.

As a Councillor, Akhil contributes across multiple national initiatives, offering strategic guidance and hands-on support in areas that matter most — from infrastructure to talent and AI.

He currently serves on the following committees:

Talent Gap Committee

The Talent Gap Committee addresses one of Malaysia’s most pressing challenges — the disconnect between academic output and real-world industry needs. The focus is on bridging this divide through meaningful upskilling, structured placements, and long-term employability strategies.

Key initiatives include:

  • PIKOM Industry Internship Program — matching university students with structured, mentored placements at tech companies
  • Curriculum reform advocacy — working with policymakers to enhance employability pathways
  • Personal mentorship — guiding youth as they navigate careers in the tech sector

Akhil’s approach is both strategic and empathetic — grounded in the belief that talent development is a national responsibility, and one that demands long-term commitment from industry leaders.

AI Chapter

The AI Chapter promotes the responsible and inclusive advancement of artificial intelligence across Malaysia. It serves as a collaborative space for dialogue between government, academia, and industry , setting ethical frameworks and accelerating real-world adoption.

Digital Infrastructure Chapter

The Digital Infrastructure Chapter supports the backbone of Malaysia’s digital economy — spanning cloud services, 5G rollout, and data center advancement. Its mission is to ensure national infrastructure is built for inclusivity, innovation, and long-term resilience.

With extensive experience delivering infrastructure solutions in over 130 countries through his global operations, Akhil brings grounded insight to the chapter’s initiatives. His focus includes:
